The Berrien County Board of Commissioners will soon formally begin the process of searching for a new county administrator.

Former Administrator Brian Dissette left earlier this month after serving for about five and a half years, and now former Berrien County Prosecutor Michael Sepic is serving on an interim basis. Speaking at Thursday’s meeting of the county board, Commissioner Jon Hinkelman said the Finance Committee will have something for the board next week.

The resolution came to Finance about hiring the Michigan Association of Counties, the Michigan Leadership Institute, to begin the search to come back to the full board,” Hinkelman said.

Commissioner Sharon Tyler wondered why the position hasn’t yet appeared on the county website. She was told the previous process, used to hire Dissette back in 2020, is now longer in place, and as a result, there have been a few delays.

Hinkelman said the cost to hire the Michigan Association of Counties will be about $9,500.
