A forum on mental health issues and suicide prevention is coming up this month in Buchanan.

One Buchanan says it’s chosen the topics as the focus of its 2026 community forum, after the suicide of a local high school student last year. The group is partnering with Buchanan Community Schools to host the forum on Wednesday, March 11, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Buchanan High School auditorium.

Organizers say the goal is to give families tools to recognize warning signs, improve communication, and better understand available resources.

A panel of experts will lead the discussion and take questions. They include moderator Jennifer LeBlanc, Senior Minister Nathan Babcock of Buchanan Christian Church, high school counselors Brandon Flowers and Blake Ryan, and licensed clinical social worker Erick Pena of EP Therapy. The Berrien County Suicide Prevention Coalition will also provide information at a resource table.

The event will be free and open to the public. Everyone’s invited.
