
Cruising on the Great Lakes is expected to have a $300 million dollar economic impact this year, a 25% increase over last year.
Cruise the Great Lakes tourism director Sally Davis-Berry says there are several ports in Michigan.
“Detroit is one of the largest ports,” Davis-Berry said. “That’s what’s called a turnaround port, meaning folks start there and end there. But a lot of the smaller ports, and one of the things the cruise lines tell us is their guests want to see small town, a Great Lakes town. So we have towns like Holland. We have Houghton is a popular spot these days.”
Davis-Berry says one of the most popular Michigan stops is Mackinac Island.
