Buchanan City Clerk Kalla Langston-Weiss has been selected as one of four finalists in the running to be named City Clerk of the Year by the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks.
Buchanan City Manager Tony McGhee tells us he’s thrilled Langston-Weiss is being recognized because she always approaches her responsibilities with a focus on what’s best for the city and the community.
“Just making sure that all of our various boards and commissions are operating in the in the proper manner and making sure information flowing, but it’s also the external, it’s the election side of the clerk’s job,” McGhee said. “To her, it’s very important to have voter engagement and high turnout, so she’s cognizant of making sure that as many people in our community have the ability and access to voting when elections come up.”
McGhee says he already knew Langston-Weiss by reputation before coming to Buchanan. He tells us after working with her for the past year, he believes Buchanan has one of the best clerks in the state.
Langston-Weiss has been with the city since 2021, having previously served Lincoln Township. She says being nominated for Clerk of the Year is a tremendous honor.
The winner of the award will be announced at the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks Annual Conference in June.
