Cade Cunningham scored 23 points, Tobias Harris had 20 and the Detroit Pistons beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 111-101 on Tuesday night in Game 1 of their second-round series. Duncan Robinson added 19 points for the top-seeded Pistons, who ended an NBA-record tying 12-game postseason losing streak against an opponent, a drought that dated to the 2007 Eastern Conference finals. The Thunder improved to 5-0 in the playoffs, despite missing 2025 All-Star Jalen Williams with an injured left hamstring for the third straight game. Red Sox 10, Tigers 3 – Rafaela homers and drives in four runs as the Red Sox rout the Tigers 10-3
Ceddanne Rafaela homered and drove in four runs, and the Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers for the second straight night with a 10-3 victory on Tuesday night. Framber Valdez (2-2) allowed a career-high 10 runs before being ejected in the fourth inning for hitting Trevor Story, which caused both benches to empty, though no punches were thrown. He also matched a career worst by allowing three homers. Willson Contreras and Wilyer Abreu also homered for the Red Sox, who had lost four of five before coming to Detroit. Boston is 4-2 against the Tigers this season. Matt Vierling homered for Detroit.

Angels 4, White Sox 3 – Trout homers and Zeferzahn escapes a jam in the 9th as the Angels beat the White Sox 4-3
Mike Trout, Jorge Soler and Zach Neto hit home runs, Ryan Zeferzahn worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth inning and the Los Angeles Angels held on for a 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night. Zeferjahn hit a batter and walked two in the ninth before retiring Edgar Quero on a groundout for his first save this season and his third in 10 career opportunities. The right-hander struck out rookie home run leader Munetaka Murakami — tied with the Yankees’ Aaron Judge at 14 — with a runner on first to get the final out in the eighth.

Cubs 3, Reds 2 – F/10 – Busch hits RBI single in 10th as Cubs beat Reds 3-2 for seventh straight win
Michael Busch singled in the winning run in the 10th inning after hitting a tying home run in the eighth and the Chicago Cubs won their seventh straight by rallying again to beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-2. Busch won it when his grounder leading off the 10th against Sam Moll handcuffed shortstop Elly De La Cruz and Dansby Swanson scored from second, giving the Cubs their 17th win in 20 games. Reds closer Emilio Pagán came in to start the ninth and fell to the ground clutching his left hamstring after one pitch.

MLB – Benches empty without any fighting during Tigers-Red Sox game
The benches cleared during the fourth inning of a game between the Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night, though no punches were thrown. The Red Sox led 8-2 after three innings before Willson Contreras and Wilyer Abreu led off the fourth with long home runs. Tigers pitcher Framber Valdez then hit Trevor Story with a 94-mph fastball on the next pitch. Story stared at the mound while Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler and plate umpire Adam Beck got between he and Valdez. That caused both benches to empty and the bullpens to eventually come onto the field. Story says it’s “undisputable” that Valdez hit him on purpose. Valdez says it was not intentional.

NFL – NFL and the NFL Referees Association are moving closer toward a new deal
The NFL and its officials are moving closer toward a new agreement that avoids a work stoppage. After a lengthy stalemate, negotiations have reached a point where the NFL Referees Association is planning to have a ratification vote this week, a person with knowledge of the discussions told The Associated Press on Tuesday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the conversations are private. ESPN first reported the development. Last month, the league began the onboarding process for replacement officials because negotiations weren’t progressing. The NFL’s collective bargaining agreement with the NFL Referees Association is set to expire on May 31. The league and the union have been negotiating a new CBA since the summer of 2024.

NCAAFB – Coaches group supports earlier CFP finish and other proposes changes
The American Football Coaches Association is proposing the elimination of conference championship games and other changes as part of its non-binding recommendation for the College Football Playoff to be completed by the second Monday each January. The AFCA has no authority within the NCAA or CFP governance structures. The AFCA, which has FBS coaches as part of its board and membership, publicly revealed its positions Tuesday. As for the size of the playoff field, currently 12 teams and expected to expand, the AFCA didn’t publicly endorse a certain number. It did say, however, that future playoff models should maximize the number of participants while honoring the proposed completion date.

PWHL – PWHL Expansion team coming to Detroit
