
Several fire departments are on the scene of a house fire in the city of South Haven
South Haven Area Emergency Services was dispatched at 8:45 a.m. Thursday to a structure fire at 849 Phillips Street.
Firefighters arrived to a house fully engulfed in flames.
Mutual aid was requested from the Bangor Community and Covert Township fire departments A second alarm brought Hartford fire department to the scene.
Neighbors reported hearing a series of explosions. The occupants safely evacuated. One elderly resident was reported to be using oxygen.
Michigan Gas Utilities was needed to turn off the gas supply to the residence.
As of 10:45 a.m., firefighters remained on the scene.
The Red Cross was asked to assist the displaced residents.
