The South Haven Area Community Foundation has announced $125,000 in grants to 21 nonprofits in the area this year.

Speaking to the South Haven City Council this week, foundation President Bob Straits said the organization is dedicated to supporting communities that are economically, educationally, and socially connected to South Haven, and it’s made quite the difference over the years.

The foundation was incorporated 20 years ago and has distributed $1.6 million locally to the non-profits and the educational institutions,” Straits said.

Straits said the latest round of grants covers a long list of familiar organizations in South Haven.

South Haven Emergency Services for updated drone for rescue, EMS, and fire suppression. Al-Van Humane Society for the spay and neuter program. Liberty Hyde Bailey Museum supporting the 2026 Conference of Gardens and People. Foundry Hall for the Riverfront Concerts and Jazz Festival.”

Grants were also announced for the South Haven Regional Business Hub, the South Haven Center for the Arts, the South Haven Boating Foundation, the South Haven Speaker Series and Theatre Series, We Care Community Resource Center, and the new dog park being planned in town, among other things.

Straits also noted the foundation each year supports scholarships for students at South Haven Public Schools, to the tune of $39,600 this year.
