Youth Solutions in Benton Harbor is planning a series of workshops for young adults about to enter the workforce in Southwest Michigan to help them put their best foot forward.

Kinexus Chief Marketing Officer Mary Morphey tells us three workshops are planned throughout the summer to help participants between the ages of 14 and 24 explore career options, develop workplace skills, and prepare for employment.

We’ll cover some of the soft skills needed to accomplish getting a job, like preparing a resume or practice interviewing,” Morphey said. “All of those things really do matter when we’re trying to set up young people for success.”

Morphey says it’s the goal of Youth Solutions to teach young adults the things we all wish we’d learned at a younger age when starting out, like what employers are really looking for during an interview.

These workshops provide practical skills, career exploration opportunities, and real world insights that can help young people navigate the next steps with confidence.”

The workshops will cover “What Employers Actually Notice” in July, resume building in August, and confidence during interviews in September. In-person sessions will be held at Michigan Works in Benton Harbor, while virtual options will also be available.

Morphey says registration is required to attend and free. You sign register for the sessions right here.
