Interscope RecordsThe Who‘s new studio album, WHO, bowed at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart after notching 89,000 equivalent album units during its first week of release, 88,000 of which were from album sales.
The number of sales was driven in large part by an offer that paired a copy of WHO with each ticket sold to the British rock legends’ U.S. summer tour.
The second-place debut ties the highest chart position ever scored by a Who album, with 1973’s Quadrophenia and 1978’s Who Are You.
WHO is the band’s first studio effort since 2006’s Endless Wire, which peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200.
In other news, after announcing recently a pair of intimate U.K. shows at the Pryzm club in the London suburb of Kinston-upon-Thames, The Who has added two more gigs at the venue on February 12. All of the dates are sold out.
The concerts will precede a 2020 U.K. leg of the band’s Moving On! Tour that kicks off March 16 in Manchester. Check out the group’s full itinerary at TheWho.com.
