Credit: Austin LordPeter Frampton stunned fans this past April when he announced plans for a final trek dubbed Finale: The Farewell Tour. The reason the British rock veteran was quitting touring wasn’t that he was tired of the road, but rather, he’d been diagnosed with a rare, degenerative muscular disease called inclusion body myositis that eventually will affect his ability to play guitar.

The trek began with a North American leg that ran from June through October, and featured Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening as the opening act. Peter’s tour will continue next year with a series of shows in his U.K. homeland and mainland Europe in May and June.

Frampton also released a new studio album in June of 2019, a collection of blues covers titled, appropriately enough, All Blues. The record spent 13 nonconsecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard‘s Blues Albums chart. Back in February, when he announced his condition, Peter revealed to Rolling Stone that he was working hard to finish a few other album projects while he still was able to play guitar well.
