Credit: Scott Robert RitchieRingo Starr had quite an eventful 2019 and he recently shared a YouTube video recapping many of the highlights of the past year.

The five-minute, 30-second clip begins with the former Beatles drummer declaring “what a great year it’s been” for him, while noting that he and his All Starr Band mounted two tour legs — the first in August and the second in August and September. His comments are accompanied by footage of the group rehearsing and playing some shows.

The 79-year-old rock legend then points out that “while I was doing nothing, I made a record,” referring to his latest solo album, What’s My Name, which was released in October. The video includes a clip of him and his brother-in-law, Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh, talking about the new song “Gotta Get Up to Get Down,” which they co-wrote.

Next, Starr notes that he put together a new photo book, A Day in the Life, which he’s shown promoting at a gallery exhibit and in a media interview. The video also show’s Ringo meeting up backstage with his friend, director David Lynch.

The last highlight in the recap is the unveiling ceremony for a stainless steel sculpture depicting Starr’s hand giving the famous peace sign. He donated the sculpture to the town of Beverly Hills, California, and it went on permanent display at the Beverly Garden Park in November. The video includes footage of Starr giving a dedication speech.

The recap ends with Ringo pointing out that he and the All Starr Band are planning two 2020 tour legs, the second of which hasn’t yet been officially announced, but that Starr says will take place around September and October.

Starr also wishes fans happy holidays, then adds, not surprisingly, “Peace and Love.”
