Island Mercury/UMe
Island Mercury/UMeThe Allman Brothers Band‘s self-titled debut album was released 50 years ago this past November, so in celebration of the group’s milestone anniversary, a career-spanning box set titled Trouble No More: 50th Anniversary Collection is scheduled to hit stores February 28.
The 61-track compilation, which will be available as a 10-LP vinyl package, a five-CD collection and digitally, will feature studio tracks, live performances and rarities, including seven previously unreleased recordings.
The package kicks off with The Allmans’ original 1969 demo of the Muddy Waters tune “Trouble No More,” which is receiving its debut release, and ends with a live version of the same song, which closed out the band’s final concert, which took place October 2014 at New York’s Beacon Theatre.
Fans who pre-order the box set will receive an instant free download of the 1969 “Trouble No More” demo.
The collection is sequenced in chronological order and divided into different eras based on The Allmans’ time on various record labels, including with Capricorn, Arista, Epic and their own Peach Records label.
Among the many highlights are selections from the classic 1971 live album At Fillmore East, enduring studio tracks like “Whipping Post,” “Midnight Rider,” “Revival,” “Melissa” and “Blue Sky,” and the hit single “Ramblin’ Man.” Trouble No More also feature five unreleased live performances from the various post-2000 Beacon Theatre residencies the group played.
Both physical versions of the box set come with a booklet featuring a new essay, unseen photos of the band, pics of memorabilia from The Big House Museum in Macon, Georgia and a rundown of the group’s 13 lineups.
A limited-edition colored-vinyl version of the collection pressed on orange-and-red-splatter vinyl can purchased exclusively at uDiscoverMusic.com.
