The metal legends first launched the initiative in 2019, donating $100,000 to 10 community colleges from throughout the United States. For the 2020 campaign, Metallica has upped the number of schools receiving donations to 15.
“Our 2019 Metallica Scholars have exceeded expectations and inspired us in more ways than we could have possibly imagined,” says drummer Lars Ulrich. “We’re really excited to be able to expand the initiative in its second year, assisting more students in achieving their dreams and transforming their lives in 2020.”
The Metallica Scholars initiative was created with the band’s All Within My Hands charity foundation. For more info, visit AllWithinMyHands.org.
