If you’re a bourbon drinker, you most likely think about the best being made in Kentucky.  However, a northern Michigan distillery is also making bourbon.

Iron Fish Distillery in Thompsonville near Traverse City is out with its Mad Angler Bourbon. Troy Anderson with Iron Fish says it’s a limited edition, six-year Michigan-aged bourbon. He says the grain is grown on their farm and farms around the state.

We really support Michigan farmers and we’re a farm distillery ourselves so really propping up the grains that we grow right here in Michigan,” Anderson said. “If you think about it, it’s about one acre per barrel of whiskey. So the consumer in Michigan can have a big impact on Michigan farms by choosing to support local brands.”

Anderson says they have about 120,000 visitors to their farm and tasting room every year.
