Can you ever have too many animals? Experts say yes, there is such a thing as too many animals.

Bob Gatt with Oakland County Animal Control recalls a situation in which 50 cats were taken from a Texas woman who was keeping them inside a Farmington Hills motel room. Gatt says it’s a good thing that all the cats were in good health.

“Animal abuse and neglect we treat very seriously,” Gatt said. “We’ve got several cases going right now where animal hoarders were not treating their animals in the proper way, and those people we take to court.”

Gatt says most of these cases start out with good intentions, but it can quickly spiral. If you find yourself in a situation like this, call Animal Control and they will find a way to help.
