Coming up July 19 at the Hartford Public Library will be a discussion on artificial intelligence and how it could affect the daily lives of everyone.

Van Buren Regional Genealogical Society President Joyce Beedie tells us the engagement comes as part of the society’s regular series at the library. The group seeks to explore hot button issues, and Beedie says AI certainly is one.

It is infiltrated almost every part of our daily lives now, and especially when it comes to technology,” Beedie said. “And so most of our group is interested in family history and in local history, and they do a lot of research and they like experimenting on these different platforms.”

The guest speaker will be Kate Penney Howard.

She is a very well-known speaker across the country in regards to genealogy as well as other fields of interest that she has. She has come well-recommended.”

Beedie says AI can certainly become a part of genealogical research, and that’s among the things that will be explored. The following Genealogical Society presentation will also concern AI, but with a focus on how it can be used in mapping. Everyone’s invited to either discussion.

The event on the 19th will be at 11 a.m. at the library in Hartford. It will be free to attend, and no reservation is needed.
