A fire at Benton Harbor High School’s Filstrup Field has caused approximately $125,000 worth of damage. Authorities say that a golf cart caught fire and spread to other equipment being used to work on the new track surface surrounding the football field. The Benton Harbor Department of Public safety says the cause was accidental. The loss will be covered by the insurance carrier of the contractor of the track.
