To commemorate the birth of former President Gerald R. Ford in 1913, a wreath laying ceremony was held Monday morning on the grounds of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids.

The former president and former first lady are buried there. Their daughter, Susan Ford Bales hosted the event.

“Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of mom, thank you for attending today as we honor her beloved husband, the man that I am so proud to call dad,” Bales said. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

The Fords’ son, Mike, also attended.

A military officer presented a wreath on behalf of President Donald Trump, continuing a presidential tradition of honoring deceased presidents on their birthdays.
