The Coloma Glad Peach Festival is this weekend, and when visitors aren’t munching on peaches, watching the drone show, or running in races, they’re invited to help raise a little money for the operation of the new Coloma Splash Pad.

Coloma City Council member Jamie Balkin tells us they’re doing something that ought to be fun.

We are going to have a dunk tank on Badt Drive with a lot of local celebrities, including the police chief, the Coloma Court, community volunteers, the high school principal,” Balkin said.

Balkin says although the splash pad is complete and the community is having a great time with it, it will costs money.

The splash pad has been up and going since May 29. It’s going great, but we need to raise funds to pay the water bill. This splash pad, no taxpayer dollars are used for it. It’s all donation funded, so we’re looking for creative and fun ways to raise some money to keep it going all summer long.”

Balkin says there will be ongoing efforts to raise money for the splash pad’s operation.

It’ll be $5 to throw three balls at the dunk tank, or $20 to just walk up and push the button to send its occupant into the drink. The dunk tank will be open Saturday from 2:30 to 7 and Sunday from 10 to 1:30.

Anyone who wants to make a general donation for splash pad operation can just contact Coloma City Hall.
