There will be some tears and maybe some jitters for students and parents this week as Michigan State University and other colleges open up their dorms and start moving students in for the new year.
MSU Assistant Vice President for Residence Education and Housing Services Ray Gasser has some advice for those moving to college this week.
“I would really try to limit the amount of possessions that they bring with them, particularly if they’re here within the state of Michigan,” Gasser said. “Sometimes we have families that pull up with trailers and trying to cram all that stuff into a 10 by 12 room. That certainly stuns me sometimes. You can always bring more later.”
Students are also moving in this week at the University of Michigan, Wayne State, Eastern Michigan, Grand Valley, and others.
