The Cass County Parks Department is planning its next Harvest Fest and Trunk-n-Treat celebration for October 18 at Dr. Lawless International Dark Sky Park.

Parks Director Scott Wyman tells us they’ve hosted the event each fall for about 15 years now, attracting thousands of all ages. He says this year’s Harvest Fest has the most packed list of activities yet.

And that includes a family fun trail, a choo-choo train, rides, inflatables, hay rides, face painting, kids costume contest, and Whitney’s Magical Mini Petting Zoo,” Wayman said.

They’ll also have a zip line, a pumpkin roll, and the Amazing “not-so-scary” Haunted Trail. Wyman says this will be a great way to prepare for Halloween while doing some good in the community.

It’s certainly community-driven, and one of the things that we’re really proud of is that you can pay with cash or you can pay with a canned good and then we’ll take all those canned goods and present them to the local food pantries.”

They’ll also collect pet supplies to be donated to the Cass County Animal Shelter.

Wyman says the Harvest Fest will run from 2 to 5 p.m. on the 18th, while the trunk or treating event, with more than 30 organizations handing out candy, will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. Everyone’s invited, whether young or young at heart.
