Dr. Ken Flowers

The Lake Michigan College Board of Trustees is inviting the community to meet presidential candidate Dr. Ken Flowers at a public forum later this month.

Flowers, who currently serves as the college’s executive vice president, has been advanced as a candidate in the board’s search for LMC’s next president. The selection process follows forums held in September where the community was invited to share input on the qualities they would like to see in the institution’s next leader.

Dr. Kenneth Flowers is a graduate of Lake Michigan College. According to his online biography, he spent the first 14 years of his career in manufacturing, beginning as an apprentice in mold making and advancing to journeyman mold maker and mold designer at Hanson Mold. Since 1997, Dr. Flowers has served the college in the Career and Workforce Education Division as an adjunct faculty member, full-time faculty, department chair, dean of Career and Workforce Education, and Provost and Vice President of Academics. He was appointed Executive Vice President in May 2025.

Dr. Flowers holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership with a focus on Career and Technical Education, a Master of Science in Career and Technical Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Precision Machining Management.

The upcoming community forum will be facilitated by the college’s search consultant. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear Dr. Flowers share his vision for Lake Michigan College and ask questions directly.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 16, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Todd Center on LMC’s main campus, 2755 E. Napier Ave. in Benton Harbor.

The Board of Trustees said it encourages all interested community members to take part in what it described as an important step in selecting the college’s next president.

Lake Michigan College offers associate degrees, certificates, and transfer programs in more than 80 fields of study, as well as intercollegiate athletics, on-campus housing, and student activities.
