South Haven residents are being invited to share their thoughts on plans for new affordable housing being developed at the former Overton site with some sessions planned for the next several weeks.

We’ve previously reported the Dwelling Place out of Grand Rapids is planning to develop an apartment building, duplexes, and single-family homes on the 5.5-acre parcel at 229 Elkenburg Street. The city of South Haven is now teaming up with the Dwelling Place for a series of community engagement sessions to gather feedback as it prepares to submit formal development plans to the state.

City leaders say the sessions will give the community an opportunity to help shape the design and direction of the proposed project.

Each session will be held twice — once in the afternoon and once in the evening — to make it easier for everyone to attend. All meetings will take place at the Northside Marina Clubhouse, at 148 Black River Street. They’ll be on October 20, November 3, and November 17.

All residents are invited.

The schedule of the sessions is below:

Evening Sessions: 5:30 – 7:00 P.M.
