The committee tasked with finding a new manager for Lincoln Township will be meeting with some potential candidates in the coming week.

At a meeting on Tuesday, Lincoln Township Supervisor Glenn Youngstedt said he’s heard from a few who are interested.

These are potential candidates for the job,” Youngstedt said. “We’re kind of the screening committee for it. And then once we’ve identified what we consider good candidates, we’ll let the board then interview them and then they’ll make a decision from there.”

So, what is the committee looking for in a new township manager?

One, we want somebody whose previous municipal or township management experience is critical. They are going to be managing the office staff.”

Therefore, the right candidate will need to have experience managing people. Youngstedt said he’s also been reaching out to the managers of other nearby municipalities to ask if they know of anyone who might be a fit for Lincoln Township.

Clerk Michael Brown is currently serving as interim manager. Youngstedt said the township isn’t going to rush in its search because leaders want to find the right person.

Former Township Manager Ralph Bansen stepped down, effective October 12, for personal reasons.
