The FBI has been conducting law enforcement operations around Berrien County this week.

Berrien County Sheriff Chuck Heit told us Wednesday his office is assisting, along with the Southwest Enforcement Team, although he couldn’t divulge any details.

The FBI, meanwhile, has confirmed it’s in the area, adding it’s not for an immigration-related matter and that the public is not in danger.

Social media has been flooded with reports of FBI activity around the county, in particular in St. Joseph and Berrien Springs.

A Michigan State Police SWAT team also reportedly assisted with one “high risk” search warrant. We’ll report more as we learn more.
