The Bridgman Public Schools Board of Education has selected Otsego High School Principal Thomas Reed to serve as the district’s next superintendent.

The board went through several rounds of interviews as it searched for a replacement for Shane Peters, who is retiring after 16 years of service. The finalists were Reed and Dr. Sarita Stevens, the deputy superintendent for the South Bend Community School Corporation.

The board met Wednesday and says it’s now entered into contract negotiations with Reed to take the helm at Bridgman Public Schools starting in July of 2026.

Prior to serving as the principal of Otsego High School, in Allegan County, Reed was the junior and senior high school principal at Lawrence Public Schools.
