Cameron Schinck of Coloma is the latest recipient of the Lake Michigan College Spirit of Nursing Award.
The Spirit of Nursing Award is LMC’s highest student honor for nursing graduates, given out to those who best exemplify the program’s philosophy of excellence, integrity, and compassionate care.
With his sights set on a nursing career, Schinck transferred to Lake Michigan College in the spring of 2023 after a semester at Adrian College. He says he’s fascinated by healthcare and how the human body works, and he wanted to learn about it and use that knowledge to help others.
Schinck was nominated for the Spirit of Nursing Award by classmates and chosen by the faculty. LMC Nursing Program Director Denise Gardner says that Schnick “has been ‘all in’ since his first day of the nursing program.”
Following graduation this month, Schnick will work at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospitals’ orthopedic and neurological unit in St. Joseph. He also plans to pursue a master’s degree in nursing with the goal of becoming a nurse practitioner.
