
A Paw Paw Township resident is dead following a fire in their home on Thursday.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department says the Paw Paw Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a home in the 38,000 block of 64th Avenue in the township around 7:30 p.m. on a report of a structure fire.
While firefighters worked to put out the blaze, a single victim was found inside the home. The victim is believed to be the home’s sole resident.
The sheriff’s department says the incident and the cause of the fire remain under investigation in conjunction with the Michigan State Police Fire Marshall.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
