The National Weather Service is expecting the winter weather to continue hitting Southwest Michigan through Thursday afternoon.
Meteorologist Nathan Marsili tells us the high winds will eventually taper off throughout the day, along with the snow.
“We could have storm totals in the 6 to 12-inch range,” Marsili said. “Where the absolute heaviest snowfall is, it could be higher than that, but that could be in a pretty narrow band that’s hard to pinpoint exactly at this time.”
Marsili says travel could be a bit difficult for tonight and some of Thursday.
“We’ll probably still have some gusts around 30 miles an hour in the morning. So even though the snow rates could be tapering late morning, could still be some blowing and drifting concerns with that.”
After that, Marsili says the area could get some lake effect snow throughout the weekend, but he’s not expecting large accumulation. He says the temperatures will be something to pay attention to, as the wind chill will bring them down to below zero.
