As the impasse over funding for the Department of Homeland Security continues in Washington, airports around the country have been reporting delays at TSA checkpoints. But locally that hasn’t been the case.
We reached out to the South Bend International Airport on Monday to ask if they’ve been affected by TSA issues, and a spokesperson tells us, “TSA wait times have NOT increased at South Bend International Airport.”
However, the airport also notes with spring break travel coming up, those who are flying should still be prepared for some waits. It recommends arriving two hours prior to the scheduled departure to have enough time to park, get through security, and get to the gate.
President Trump on Monday started deploying ICE agents to some airports around the country in an attempt to make up for shortages of TSA staff. Some TSA workers have been calling in sick due to not being paid.
