Animal Aid of Southwest Michigan will hold a Kitten Shower this Saturday, April 4, at the Lincoln Township Public Library.
Animal Aid’s Darryl Schoonover tells us this will be a chance for anyone to help some of the foster cats and dogs that the organization is caring for at a time when their population is ballooning.
“We are right in the middle of kitten and puppy season for 2026,” Schoonover said. “For example, I already have three litters in my house that we are fostering. And alongside of those, I’ve got 27 other fosters spread out all over.”
Animal Aid doesn’t operate a shelter. Rather, Schoonover says it finds foster homes for cats and dogs in need, and right now those foster households could use pet food, cleaning supplies, and more. Those who come out to Saturday’s kitten shower will get to meet a few furry friends.
“I have at least a litter of two-week-olds that will be there. I have a two-week-old puppy that’s going to be there, and two three-month-olds that will be there, just coming out of my house. And I’m not the only foster that’s going to be there.”
Schoonover says the Lincoln Township Library has been a partner of Animal Aid in the past, so he’s grateful it’s hosting them again.
The kitten shower will also include crafts, a photobooth, and refreshments. Everyone’s invited to come make a monetary or supply donation on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.
