ABC/Randy HolmesEarlier this month, Metallica announced a special collaborative show with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, to be held September 6 at the Chase Center, the upcoming new home of the Golden State Warriors basketball team. Now, there’ll be another one.
After the September 6 show sold out immediately, some fans took to social media to blame bots and scalpers for scooping up tickets and reselling them at exorbitant prices.
In an effort to rectify the problem, Metallica has announced a second orchestra-accompanied show at the Chase Center, taking place September 8. This time, tickets will only be available to members of the band’s Fifth Member fan club.
“The response from the ‘Tallica fan universe to the announcement of our show with the San Francisco Symphony blew us away, in fact, it was completely and totally overwhelming — thank you!” the metal legends write in a statement.
“However, we also understand that for a great number of you, it brought frustration and disappointment as the supply of tickets fell way short of demand.”
The exact date and time of the on-sale has yet to be revealed, as Metallica notes that “this is going to take a little time to get as close to foolproof as we can get it.”
The band also notes that a “small number of tickets” will be reserved for Warriors season ticket holders due to “contractual obligations.”
“The rest of the house will be all of you and only you…just the Metallica Fan Club family,” the band promises.
The Chase Center shows will mark the 20th anniversary of Metallica’s 1999 live album S&M, which was also recorded with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.
