The Bridgman Education Foundation is once again inviting golf enthusiasts, community members, and businesses to take part in its annual Links for Education Golf Outing on Monday, May 4, raising funds for Bridgman Public Schools.
Foundation Chair George Lepeniotis tells us the event is in its 14th year, supporting the organization’s mission of promoting educational excellence and programming in the school district. Over the years, the foundation has done plenty to support its school district.
“This year we saw a shortage of budgetary funding and approved a request to help offset the school counselor position at the elementary school as in years past,” Lepeniotis said. “We’ve helped Bridgman’s DECA team compete at the state and national level, where they’ve done very well. We’ve also helped individual grants that teachers may have for programming, materials, technology, and classroom improvements.”
And Lepeniotis says the foundation helped establish a STEM lab at the middle school.
The golf outing will be held at the exclusive Lost Dunes Golf Club in Bridgman, giving everyone a chance to play on that esteemed course. The event last year raised about $30,000.
“It is absolutely a premier fundraiser event, and it really does make the foundation possible. Without the golf outing, we just wouldn’t be quite as vibrant as we are.”
The day will kick off at 11 a.m. with registration and a light lunch, giving players time to warm up at the driving range and putting green. A shotgun start follows at 1 p.m., sending teams out onto the fairways. At 6 p.m., players will gather back in the clubhouse to celebrate the day’s victories with drinks, food, and awards.
Lepeniotis says it’s $500 to take part and that supports Bridgman Public Schools. Tickets are available now.
