There’s a new police chief on the job in Lincoln Township.
With the retirement of longtime Chief Gary Soper this week, David Burrow has taken over the role.
Burrow brings 19 years of law enforcement experience to the job, having most recently served as an administrative sergeant with the Lincoln Township Police Department. As an administrative sergeant, Burrow has overseen patrol officers, acted a K9 handler, and taken part in criminal investigations.
At this week’s meeting of the Lincoln Township Board of Trustees, Burrow was officially handed his badge by Supervisor Glenn Youngstedt. Youngstedt says the township board is confident Burrow will perform at a high level and have a strong commitment to Lincoln Charter Township.
Chief Soper, officially retired as of this week, started his law enforcement career in the city of Benton Harbor but later came to the township as a patrol officer. He became chief in 2017.
