Michigan State Police are once again taking part in a nationwide effort aimed at safely collecting and disposing of unused and expired prescription medications this coming weekend.
The agency says all 31 state police posts across the state will open on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, giving everyone a safe and anonymous way to turn in unwanted pills.
Police say the initiative helps reduce the risk of prescription drug abuse while also preventing environmental harm from improper disposal. All collected medications will be destroyed, and the MSP adds no questions will be asked.
Anyone can find the nearest participating MSP post by visiting Michigan.gov/MSPPosts. In Southwest Michigan, there are state police posts in Niles and Paw Paw.
Nearly 650 pounds of pills were collected during the last Drug Take Back Day in October of 2025.
