Memorial Day weekend is coming up soon, and AAA of Michigan expects a lot of people to hit the road.

AAA Spokesperson Adrienne Woodland filled us in on the latest projections.

More than 1.3 million Michiganders will travel at least 50 miles or more away from home this Memorial Day weekend, and that’s the second highest on record and it’s more than what we saw last year,” Woodland said. “But one note to make, we’re definitely seeing the increases from year to year slow down.”

Woodland says it’s the smallest year over year increase in over a decade and she thinks that’s because of higher gas prices. She says 70,000 will fly and more than 68,000 will travel by bus, train, or a cruise.
