Tigers 6, Royals 3 – Workman lives up to middle name with 1st career tater as Tigers top Royals 6-3
Gage Workman came off the bench and hit his first major league homer, a two-run shot that sent the Detroit Tigers past the Kansas City Royals 6-3 to snap a five-game losing streak. Matt Vierling had a two-run double and Riley Greene reached safely four times as the Tigers prevented a three-game sweep. Called up hours earlier from Triple-A Toledo when Kerry Carpenter was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left shoulder sprain, Workman entered as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning and connected off Nick Mears to give Detroit a 5-3 lead. Enmanuel De Jesus retired all seven batters he faced for the win. Kenley Jansen struck out two in a perfect ninth for his 483rd career save and seventh this season.

White Sox 2, Mariners 1 – Grichuk homers in the 8th in White Sox 2-1 win over Mariners
Randal Grichuk hit a solo home run and Drew Romo scored the winning run in the eighth inning for the Chicago White Sox in a 2-1 win over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday. Grichuk hit a 377-foot drive over the right field wall to tie the game. Romo tagged up on Miguel Vargas’ fly out to Randy Arozarena, who overthrew home. In the ninth, the Mariners hit back-to-back singles and Seranthony Domínguez walked Rob Refsnyder to load the bases with no outs. Domínguez got out of the jam for his ninth save of the year.

The Texas right-hander allowed three hits in seven innings while striking out Ian Happ three times to end Happ’s career-best streak for reaching base at 30 games. The Rangers took the series with consecutive shutouts after the Cubs opened the three-game set with a victory that clinched their second 10-game winning streak in a span of 23 games.

Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and the New York Knicks are back in the Eastern Conference finals, tying the NBA postseason record with 25 3-pointers in front of a raucous crowd rooting for the road team and rolling past the Philadelphia 76ers 144-114 on Sunday to sweep the second-round series. Deuce McBride hit seven 3-pointers and scored 25 points. Brunson had 22 points and Hart and Karl-Anthony Towns each scored 17 in the Knicks’ latest lopsided playoff victory.
