Magic 112, Pistons 101 – Magic beat Pistons 112-101 to extend NBA’s longest home postseason skid
Paolo Banchero had 23 points, nine rebounds and four assists to lead the eighth-seeded Orlando Magic to a 112-101 win over the top-seeded Detroit Pistons in Game 1 of their first-round series. Detroit’s loss extended the longest home playoff losing streak in NBA history. Detroit has dropped 11 straight home games in the postseason, a drought that dates to 2008. The Pistons will get another chance against Orlando on Wednesday night in Game 2. Detroit’s Cade Cunningham scored a playoff career-high 39 points and Tobias Harris added 17 for the Pistons, but the rest of their teammates were quiet offensively.

NBA -Pistons open playoffs with a flop as East’s top seed, losing to 8th-seeded Magic
The Detroit Pistons opened the NBA playoffs with a flop. Detroit went into the postseason as the top-seeded team in the Eastern Conference, openly talking about exceeding modest expectations and winning the franchise’s fourth championship. If the Pistons don’t play better than they did in a 112-101 loss to Orlando on Sunday night in Game 1, they might get knocked out in the first round again. Cade Cunningham scored a playoff career-high 39 points but didn’t get much help from his teammates. Detroit has lost an NBA-record 11 straight postseason home games

Tigers 6, Red Sox 2 – Dillon Dingler hits 3-run HR; Tigers beat struggling Crochet and Red Sox 6-2
Dillon Dingler hit a three-run homer during Detroit’s four-run fifth inning against Boston’s struggling ace Garrett Crochet, leading the Tigers to a 6-2 victory over the Red Sox on Sunday at chilly and rainy Fenway Park. Dingler also had an RBI double off Crochet in the first inning and had four hits overall, helping the Tigers to their eighth win in nine games. The start was moved three hours later to account for heavier rain that was forecasted.

White Sox 7, Athletics 2 – Murakami homers and White Sox go deep 4 times to back Noah Schultz in 7-4 win over A’s
Rookie Munetaka Murakami and Miguel Vargas hit two of Chicago’s four home runs off Jeffrey Springs, and rookie Noah Schultz allowed one hit over five innings for his first major league win as the Chicago White Sox beat the Athletics 7-4. Making his second career start, Schultz (1-1) gave up Darell Hernaiz’s solo home run in the second inning. Vargas led off with a single in the fifth and Murakami followed with his third homer of the series and eighth of the season.

Cubs 2, Mets 1 – F/10 – Cubs hand Mets their 11th straight loss by rallying for a 2-1 win in 10 innings
Nico Hoerner hit a sacrifice fly off Craig Kimbrel in the 10th inning, and the Chicago Cubs sent the New York Mets to their 11th consecutive loss by rallying for a 2-1 victory. Pinch-hitter Michael Conforto tied it for Chicago in the ninth with an RBI double off closer Devin Williams. Pete Crow-Armstrong opened the 10th on second as the Cubs’ automatic runner. Dansby Swanson fouled off two bunt attempts before Kimbrel threw a wild pitch, moving Crow-Armstrong to third. After Swanson struck out swinging, Hoerner lofted a flyball to right and Crow-Armstrong scored easily. Caleb Thielbar worked a scoreless 10th for Chicago, who have won their fifth straight.

WNBA – Clark getting reacclimated to Fever as she returns to practice for training camp
Caitlin Clark looked right at home inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday. She wore her favorite Indiana Fever practice gear. She stretched and ran with teammates. And she of course flashed her trademark smile. While she didn’t line up any 3-pointers during the open portion of the team’s first training camp practice, everyone knows that will be back — in time. For now, just getting back to work in her adopted hometown served as a welcome respite after she missed all but 13 games during an injury-plagued 2025 season.

Golf – Fitzpatrick delivers another playoff winner to beat Scheffler at RBC Heritage
Matt Fitzpatrick is a playoff winner at Harbour Town again with a familiar ending against an American favorite. This time it was the world’s best player he took down at the RBC Heritage. Fitzpatrick made a 13-foot birdie putt to beat Scottie Scheffler after hitting 4-iron to the tough 18th on the first extra hole. It was similar to when he hit 9-iron to inches away to beat Jordan Spieth three years ago. Scheffler shot 67 to make up a three-shot deficit over the last four holes. Fitzpatrick shot 70 after his only bogey on the 18th hole in regulation.

Golf –Green rallies to win the JM Eagle LA Championship for the 3rd time in 4 years
Hannah Green won the JM Eagle LA Championship for the third time in first four years and the first at El Caballero, holing a 12-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole. Briefly six strokes behind Sei Young Kim on No. 11, Green closed with a 4-under 68 to match Kim and Jin Hee Im at 17-under 271. In the playoff, Green made the right-to-left breaking putt after Kim — eight strokes ahead with five holes to go in the third round — left a 35-foot birdie try short. Green also won the event in 2023 and 2024 at Wilshire Country Club. She joined Hyo Joo Kim as the only two-time winners this season on the LPGA with her fourth worldwide victory of the year.

A humanoid robot sprints past the human half-marathon world record in Beijing race
A humanoid robot has won a half-marathon race for robots in Beijing, running faster than the human record. The robot from the Honor team completed the 13-mile race in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, surpassing Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo’s human record of about 57 minutes. The event took place Sunday, with the robot using autonomous navigation to secure the win. This year’s race featured over 300 robots from more than 100 teams, including international participants. The competition highlights China’s advancements in a technological competition with the U.S. Speeding up the development of products like humanoid robots and their applications is part of the 2026-2030 plan by Beijing for the world’s second-largest economy.
