Congressman Tim Walberg has officially submitted petition signatures to appear on the August 4 Republican primary ballot for Michigan’s Fifth Congressional District.

Walberg’s campaign announced on Monday that Walberg, who serves as chairman of the U.S. House Education and Workforce Committee, is currently the only Republican candidate to have filed paperwork ahead of the April 21 deadline.

In a statement, Walberg highlighted his recent legislative work in Congress, pointing to what he described as major tax and policy achievements, including reforms to higher education, efforts to reduce healthcare costs, and legislation aimed at protecting the Great Lakes. He calls this session of Congress one of his most successful terms.

Walberg represents Michigan’s Fifth Congressional District, which includes Branch, Cass, Hillsdale, Jackson, Lenawee, Monroe, and St. Joseph counties, as well as parts of Berrien, Calhoun, and Kalamazoo counties.
